Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth-shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions.

As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and may someday need replacement. They are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile.

Reasons for porcelain veneers
Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile.
Crooked teeth.
Misshapen teeth.
Severely discolored or stained teeth.
Teeth that are too small or large.
Unwanted or uneven spaces.
What Does the Veneers Procedure Involve?
First Visit

We will discuss in detail the desired esthetic outcome. We will take multiple photographs, measurements of teeth and diagnostic impressions of your teeth. We will request a "wax up" from an esthetic lab that will show us what the final veneers can look like.

Second Visit

We will get a wax up from the lab and "try in" what the veneers can look like in your mouth. If we need to make changes to the wax up, a second try in appointment may be needed. Once we are satisfied with the wax up, we then move on to the actual treatment.

Third Visit

This visit will require some local anesthetic. The teeth are prepared (drilled minimally) and impressed. The final desired shade (color) will be confirmed. You will walk out with temporary veneers while the case is sent to an esthetic lab.

Fourth Visit

The temporary veneers will be removed. The permanent veneers will be tried in. If the fit, shade or shape of the final veneers are not satisfactory to the doctor or to the patient, the case can be sent back to the lab for modification. If everything is satisfactory, the teeth and the inside surfaces of the veneers will be cleansed and treated with different solutions to achieve a durable bond. Then the veneers will be cemented and a special light will be used to harden the bond.

Care Instructions

Please remember to maintain proper oral hygiene such as brushing, flossing and regular dental check up visits to aid in the life of your new beautiful smile. A nightguard may also be recommended to extend the life span of the veneers.
